Maryville premier dance school since 1958. Van Metre School of Dance offers ballet, jazz, tap, and modern dance classes for children and teens.
It is also the official school of the Appalachian Ballet Company.
Disciplined Training & High Standards: This is a serious studio that holds students to a high degree of performance. Parents are encouraged to stay out of the studio during classes so kids can focus without distraction. The training is serious, but it shows in every performance.
The Nutcracker & Classic Performances: Every year, the students put on beautiful full-length performances of classic ballets. Think The Nutcracker, Swan Lake, and The Little Mermaid. These are not rushed shows. The kids actually learn full productions with all the costumes, music, and choreography. And here's the thing: they dance alongside professional dancers for all of these shows. It is genuinely impressive to watch, especially if you have never been to a ballet before. The performances are usually held in late December for The Nutcracker, and spring for Swan Lake or The Little Mermaid.
