Skatetown is a classic, family-owned roller skating rink in Knoxville (about 25 minutes from Maryville) that's been a go-to for East Tennessee kids for years. It's one of the few traditional rinks left in the area, and it's a great low-tech way to burn off energy — no screens, just wheels, music, and a wood floor.

They run regular public skate sessions most days of the week with different themes: Glow Skate Night on Tuesdays, Christian Music Skate on Wednesdays, and bigger weekend crowds on Friday and Saturday nights. There's a full-service snack bar, an arcade, a pro shop, and a "stuff shop" with glow-in-the-dark and light-up gear the kids love. They also rent skates (regular skates $5, inline/speed skates $6).

Skatetown is a popular spot for birthday parties, school fundraisers, and church-group outings — they host events year-round, plus a New Year's Eve Late Skate. When Blount County schools are out or dismiss early, they typically add afternoon hours, so it's worth a quick call if you're aiming for a weekday.

Hours (regular weekly public sessions, admission listed): - Sunday: 2–5 PM & 7–9 PM ($10) - Monday: 6:30–8:30 PM ($10) - Tuesday Glow Skate: 7:30–9:30 PM ($10) - Wednesday Christian Music Skate: 6:30–8:30 PM ($8) - Thursday (16+ only): 7:30–10 PM ($12) - Friday: 7:30–11 PM ($12) - Saturday: 12:30–3:30 PM ($10) & 7:30 PM–12 AM ($15)

Admission is pay-per-session (no membership required), and skate rental runs $5–$6 depending on the type. It's a fun, active outing for a rainy day or a birthday party that doesn't happen to break the bank.
