If your kid is ready to get into soccer, this is the place. Blount County Parks & Rec runs youth soccer programs for ages 5-16 through the spring and fall seasons.
What to expect: - Ages 5-6 play small-sided soccer (less field, more touches on the ball) - Ages 5-12 on all-boys or all-girls teams; ages 13-16 play co-ed - Practices happen 1-2x/week at area parks, plus weekend games - Every kid plays in every game—no benchwarmers here - Teams are grouped by age (as of April 1 for spring season) and school
Pro tip from a mom: Shin guards are required, so don't skip them. And if you want a team shirt, grab one at registration—they cost an extra $18, or $20 if you wait until picture day.
Registration: Typically opens in late winter/early spring for the spring season. Fees are around $78 (includes jersey) plus optional team photos. Late registration adds $5 if space is still available.
Contact: Call 865-983-9244 or check their website for exact registration dates, fees, and park locations. They also offer volunteer coach clinics if you want to get involved!
