If your family has caught the pickleball craze (and who hasn't?!), the Maryville Pickleball Club is where you'll find your people. This is more than just a place to playβit's a community of 200+ members who love the game and want to share it with newcomers.
The club plays at multiple locations around Maryville and Alcoa, including John Sevier Park and courts at the Bassel complex on Joule Street. There's open play sessions throughout the morning for different skill levels, so whether you've never held a paddle or you're ready for competitive doubles, you'll find your group.
What to expect: - Morning play sessions (typically 9am-12pm) - Evening play on select days - Mix of beginners and experienced players - Friendly, welcoming atmosphere - Equipment available to borrow if you don't have your own paddle
Pro tip: Arrive early on weekday mornings if you want to get a court. The slots fill up fast, especially in good weather. And if you're new to the game, ask about the beginner-friendly timesβthey're usually early in the week when there's a court reserved for players just learning.
Getting started: Contact Mark Roberts at (865) 230-3398 or check out their Facebook page to connect with the community. They'll walk you through membership, scheduling, and maybe even help you pick your first paddle.
