Established in 1967, Maryville Isshin-Ryu Karate School is the oldest martial arts school in Blount County. They are fully accredited by the International Isshin-Ryu Karate Association and teach traditional Okinawan Karate to both youth (ages 7-12) and teens/adults (12+).
Classes focus on self-defense, sparring techniques, kata, flexibility, concentration, discipline, and respect. The youth program uses the same traditional techniques as the adult class, with instruction tailored for younger students — all instructors have personal experience with the program.
Fall 2026: Classes run at Everett Recreation Center (318 S. Everett High Rd, Maryville). Schedule varies by day — check the Blount County Parks & Rec site for current session dates, times, and registration.
