A newer, fully accessible playground and open-air play space in East Knoxville’s favorite 36-acre community park. The BlueCross Healthy Place (opened December 2023) features separate playgrounds for ages 2–5 and 5–12 with soft, poured-in-place surfacing so kids of all abilities can play side by side, plus a multipurpose field with bleachers, a challenge course, a 40-yard dash strip, and a fitness area for grown-ups. There are two community pavilions, restrooms, and accessible parking. The broader Morningside Park also has an 18-hole disc golf course, a 1.6-mile greenway, and the Alex Haley Heritage Square with its 13-foot bronze statue of the Pulitzer Prize-winning author. Open daily from dawn to dusk, and it is free.
