Maryvilles own independent bookstore is a hidden gem on East Broadway. They stock new books, puzzles, journals, and have a really solid childrens section that actually gets rotated out - not just the same displays for years.
Why I like it: They host author events and book clubs regularly, which is rare for a town our size. The staff actually knows their kids books section and can make real recommendations - not try the first page but this is the ones that has been making people laugh lately.
For families: They are great about special orders too. If a kid wants something specific that is not on the shelf, they can order it in. No extra charge for local pickup.

Hours: Tuesday through Friday 10am-5pm, Friday until 7pm, Saturday 10am-5pm. Closed Sundays and Mondays.
What to bring: Your favorite kid or not so favorite kid. And patience - browsing here takes time because you want to look at everything. There is also a small toys and games section with puzzles and brain teasers that are great for car rides.
