Zoo Knoxville runs a semester-based homeschool program that supplements a K-8 science curriculum with hands-on, wildlife-focused classes held in the zoo. There are two tracks: weekly classes on Tuesdays and Wednesdays (K-8) and monthly classes on Thursdays (K-12). Both run as semesters, and fall registration for new families opens each fall. Families can also join monthly Science Days — one to one-and-a-half-hour educator-led sessions at 10am on Mondays during spring and fall, with a new theme each month. A zoo membership is not required to register, but the student and the adult bringing them must pay admission or hold a membership to enter for class. Class schedules and prices are posted as PDFs on the program page. Cancellations 30+ days before semester start get a 2/3 refund; 15-30 days gets 1/3; 14 days or less gets no refund.
