A beautifully restored historic movie palace in downtown Knoxville that is surprisingly kid-friendly. Beyond the adult concerts and Broadway shows, the Tennessee Theatre runs family programming all year — including the classic Mighty Musical Monday series (free weekday organ recitals), family film screenings, and its signature Summer Movie Magic series with discounted family movies. The theatre's hand-painted ceiling, Art Deco lobby, and the mighty Wurlitzer organ make it an event in itself for little ones, and the balcony seats are a treat.

A great first-visit tip: arrive early to watch the organ rise up out of the floor before a show — kids love it. Concessions are reasonably priced, and being on Gay Street means you can pair a visit with a walk through Market Square. Best for elementary-age kids and up who can sit through a longer program.
