Step into an 1812-era one-room log schoolhouse where a young Sam Houston once taught before the Texas Revolution. Along with the Fireside Cabin (added 2018), this hillside site offers living-history events, summer day camps for kids, seasonal pioneer skill workshops, and even pirate-themed summer camps for the younger set. It is a go-to field-trip destination for Blount County schools.
Visitors can tour the historic schoolhouse, browse the small gift shop, and attend special history days for families throughout the year. Call ahead or check the site's official calendar before visiting, as special events are offered seasonally.
