Pigeon Forge Gem Mine is a family-owned gem mining attraction right on the Pigeon Forge Parkway — an easy, screen-free activity for kids of all ages. Guests sift through mining ore to find real gemstones like rubies, emeralds, and sapphires, and the staff walk you through how it works as a hands-on geology lesson. After you finish mining, browse the Rock & Fossil Shop for handcrafted gemstone jewelry, crystals, and Smoky Mountain souvenirs, and check out the free Gem & Fossil Museum to see natural wonders and learn about geology and paleontology.
Groups, birthday parties, and school field trips are welcome. Open daily: Sunday through Thursday 9 AM–9 PM and Friday–Saturday 9 AM–10 PM (closing can vary with traffic). Located at 2865 Parkway in Pigeon Forge, about 50–60 minutes from Maryville via US-321.
