🏈 KT Weekend at Maryville College
- Free football camp
- Free lunch
- Ice cream truck
- Game stations
- Outdoor activities
If your kids are in the 8-13 age range, KT Weekend at Maryville College is a really cool free event happening Saturday, April 11th.
It started in 2014 as a student service day honoring Kin Takahashi, the MC guy who brought football to East Tennessee. This year they're expanding it into this bigger celebration with three parts:
KTCares - Students and alumni work at the Maryville College Woods cleaning up invasive plants. Pretty cool to see college kids actually doing service stuff, not just talking about it.
KTCamp - This is the part your kids will love. Local football players are running a FREE football camp for kids ages 8-13. It's right there on campus, completely free. The Bonner Scholars doing it are also the college football team, so they know what they're doing.
KTCookout - Free Saturday lunch at Pearsons Hall with an ice cream truck, a DJ, and game stations run by Bonner Scholars from different service sites. Some stations include stuff like soccer obstacle courses and chalk walks. No registration needed, just show up.
Where: Maryville College campus (Pearsons Hall and the Woods) When: Saturday, April 11, 2026 Cost: Free for kids (the camp and cookout) Ages: 8-13 for the football camp; all ages for the cookout and general events Register: Students register at https://maryvillecollege.givepulse.com/event/853680. Parents and families just show up for the cookout - no registration needed.
It's one of those rare college events that's actually designed to be family-friendly and not just another thing for students to put on a resume. The football camp is a really nice touch for families with middle schoolers.
