The Great Smoky Mountains Heritage Center hosts a spectacular 4th of July celebration marking Americaโs 250th birthday. A 45-piece American brass band led by conductor Danny Griffin performs John Philip Sousa marches, Appalachian-themed music, and a military/veteran salute. Doors open at 6:30 PM in the large covered amphitheater, concert starts at 8:00 PM. Historically dressed character portrayals roam the grounds. First 300 guests get a complimentary American flag. After the concert, drive the 10 minutes to downtown Townsend for a fireworks display. Family-friendly, lawn seating available.
