If your kid is curious about swimming, biking, and running but has no idea where to start, this is the perfect introduction. Blount County Parks & Recreation runs "Give It a Tri" - a week-long triathlon camp for ages 8-12 that builds skills and confidence in a supportive, fun environment.

What they learn: The camp teaches the fundamentals of all three sports - swimming, biking, and running - plus how to transition between them. It is led by Coach Kat Uchman, who is USA Triathlon Certified with serious credentials (Olympic Cycling Coach, former D1 swimmer). The key here is that athletes of all ability levels are welcome - no prior triathlon experience required.

The week culminates in: A "Mock Triathlon" on Thursday where families are invited to come cheer on the kids. It is designed to be confidence-building, not intimidating.

Who this is for: Kids who can already swim one length (50 meters) without assistance, ride a bike confidently without training wheels, and are physically active. It is NOT for complete beginners - they need those baseline skills to make the most of the week.
