The Best Maryville Parks for Kids: Where to Play, Splash, and Breathe Fresh Air

May 11, 2026 ยท by Mary

There are some parks in Maryville where kids drag their feet leaving, and some where they drag you in. If you are looking for real outdoor time with the kids - not just a parking lot and a slide - these are the ones worth the trip.

I am including parks in Maryville proper first, then two nearby options in Alcoa and Farragut that are worth the extra drive if you want a bigger experience.

John Sevier Park - The One With Everything

Address: 1998 Sequoyah Ave, Maryville, TN 37804

This is the park that punches above its weight. Eight acres of big trees, a sheltered picnic area, and the Blount Inclusive Playground, which is designed for kids of all ages and abilities. If you have a child who needs accessible play equipment, this is your spot. The playground is ADA-accessible and has something for every age group.

The park is also home to the John Sevier Pool, which opens May 15, 2026. Even if you are not hitting the pool, the playground and shade make this a solid stop any time of year. There is also a pavilion you can reserve for parties or gatherings.

Best for: All ages, inclusive play, families who want playground + pool in one stop Amenities: Playground (ADA accessible), pavilion, picnic area, parking, access to John Sevier Pool Cost: Free (pavilion rental required) Hours: Park is open daily; pool hours vary by season

Sandy Springs Park - The Big One for Active Kids

Address: 702 Best St, Maryville, TN 37804

Sandy Springs is one of the bigger parks in Maryville, and it shows. There is a playground, basketball courts, tennis courts, sports fields, and a 1.7-mile paved walking path that connects to the Maryville-Alcoa Greenway. Parents who bring toddlers love the pavilion with grills - you can set up, eat, and the kids can play while you are not running around.

The parking is plentiful, which sounds minor until you are trying to find a spot at a crowded park on a Saturday. Restrooms are on-site and clean. This park gets busy on warm days, so come early.

Best for: Families with multiple kids who need different kinds of play, picnic groups Amenities: Playground, pavilion with grills, basketball courts, tennis courts, walking path, restrooms, water fountains, ample parking Cost: Free (pavilion rental available) Hours: Park is open daily; check with Parks and Rec for facility hours

Everett Park - Two Playgrounds in One Park

Address: 616 S. Everett High Rd, Maryville, TN 37804

Everett Park has two distinct play areas, one specifically designed for kids ages 5-12. If you have kids at very different ages, this is the park where the older one won't be bored by the toddler equipment and the toddler won't be overwhelmed by the big-kid stuff.

The park is 20 acres, well-maintained, and clean. There is also a senior community center on-site, so you might see grandparents coming here - it has a nice neighborhood feel. Parking is easy.

Best for: Siblings with different ages, a calm park day Amenities: Two play areas, senior community center, parking Cost: Free Hours: Park is open daily

Pearson Springs Park - Greenway + Creek + Play

Address: 1467 Montvale Station Rd, Maryville, TN 37803

Pearson Springs runs along Pistol Creek and connects directly to the Greenway. It is eight acres with a pavilion and soccer fields. The playground isn't the biggest, but the creek-side setting and the walk along Pistol Creek make this one of the more scenic outings you can take with the kids.

If you want a half-hour walk on a paved trail with the kids and then a quick playground stop, this is it. The Greenway connection means you can keep walking if the kids have more energy. Pavilions are available for reservation.

Best for: Walk-and-play days, younger kids who can handle some trail walking, nature time Amenities: Playground, Greenway access, creek-side walking, pavilion, soccer fields, parking Cost: Free (pavilion rental available) Hours: Park is open daily

Amerine Park - Small, Simple, Gets the Job Done

Address: 412 Amerine Rd, Maryville, TN

This is a neighborhood park - nothing fancy, but it has a playground and open green space. If you are looking for something close by, low-stress, and quick, Amerine Park works. It is easy to pop in for 20 minutes on a weekday afternoon.

Best for: Quick visits, close-to-home play Amenities: Playground, open green space, parking Cost: Free Hours: Park is open daily

College Hill Park - Tiny But Worth a Stop

Address: 701 Cates St, Maryville, TN 37803

Located at the corner of Miller Ave and Cates St, College Hill Park is small - it is described as a "great for kids" neighborhood park by several sources. It has a playground and is easy to get to if you are in that part of town. Do not go expecting a destination; go if you are already nearby and need to burn off energy.

Best for: Close-to-home, quick play Amenities: Playground, parking Cost: Free Hours: Park is open daily

Bonus: McFee Park (Farragut/Knoxville) - The Splash Pad King

Address: 11317 Parkside Dr, Farragut, TN 37934

If you are willing to drive 15-20 minutes from Maryville, McFee Park in Farragut has the largest public splash pad in the Knoxville area. It is 52 acres with a lighted playground, two pavilions with grills, lighted fields, and the splash pad - which has a dedicated toddler area and spray elements that older kids love.

This is worth the trip on a hot July or August afternoon. The splash pad is free and open during park hours (typically late May through early September). Bring a towel and sunscreen.

Best for: Hot days, kids who love water, the whole family outing Amenities: Splash pad, lighted playground, pavilions, tennis/pickleball courts, walking trails, lighted fields, restrooms Cost: Free Hours: Splash pad open summer season, check Farragut Parks and Rec for current dates

What I Would Do This Weekend

If I had to pick just two to visit right now, I would go to John Sevier Park first (playground + pool prep before summer) and then hit Sandy Springs in the afternoon if the weather is nice. Bring snacks - you will want to stay a while.

All Maryville parks listed here are managed by the Blount County Parks and Recreation Commission. You can find their full park list, reserve pavilions, and register for summer programs at parksrec.com.
