Your Guide to Kid-Friendly Activities in Maryville & Knoxville, TN

Maryville Summer Just Started — What Is Open Right Now (June 2026)

June 05, 2026 · by Mary

School lets out, the pools are open, and Maryville is officially in summer mode. If you are wondering where to take the kids this week, here is what is actually running right now.

Levitt AMP Concert Series — Tonight!

The very first Levitt AMP Maryville concert is tonight, Thursday June 4 at 7pm at Jack Greene Park (Charles West Amphitheater). Free, family-friendly, every Thursday through July 30. Bring blankets, lawn chairs, and maybe a snack from a nearby food truck. No tickets needed — just show up.

The concert series runs 7-9pm each Thursday. levitt.org/amp-maryville-tn for the full lineup.

Blount County Public Library — Touch-A-Truck Tomorrow

The library kicks off its Summer Reading Program tomorrow, Saturday June 6, with a Touch-A-Truck event from 10am-12pm in the Learning Lab parking lot. The 2026 theme is "Unearth a Story" — it runs through August, and kids can earn prizes for reading.

After the kickoff, there is a full slate of library events:

The Friends of the Library are also running a quarterly book sale Thursday-Saturday (June 4-6). Worth browsing if your kids are looking for summer reading.

Pools Are Open

John Sevier Pool (Maryville) has been open since May 15, and Springbrook Pool (Alcoa) opened May 22. Both are in full summer schedule. Bring your swimsuit and your season pass — or grab a day pass at the door. Both have shallow areas, slides, and lifeguards on duty.

Splash Pads

Maryville's splash pads are running during the summer season. Sandy Springs Park and the parks around the Blount County area have water features active when temperatures are right — usually daily in the late morning through evening. Check the Blount County Parks site for current status, or just head out on a hot afternoon and see.

Knox County splash pads (Carl Cowan, Powell Station, New Harvest, French Memorial) opened May 15 and are also running.

Summer Camps Are Already Underway

Blount County Parks & Rec summer day camps started May 26 and run through July 3. YMCA East Tennessee summer camps ran May 26 through July 24. Various sports camps and specialty programs are running through mid-June. If you missed registration, check the parks rec website — some programs take walk-ins.

What Else to Know

It is going to get hot. Like Tennessee hot. Plan outdoor activities for early morning or late afternoon when you can. The splash pads and pools are the best midday save on summer afternoons.

All the pre-summer guide posts I wrote back in May still apply — the park list, the pool guide, the camp roundups — but everything on those posts is now actually open and running. The question is no longer "what is available" but "which one do we pick today."

This post will stay updated as new events drop through the summer. Check back.
