Fall 2026 Kids Activities in Maryville: What Is Starting This Month

August 04, 2026 · by Mary

Summer is winding down and a bunch of great fall programs are kicking off across Blount County this week. I pulled together everything I could find that is starting in August and September — real dates, real prices, real places. No guesses.

Blount County Parks & Rec — Youth Programs Starting Now

The Parks & Rec office is at 316 S. Everett High Rd, Maryville (865-983-9244, parksrec.com). Registration is in-person only for some programs — you have to go to their office on Everett High Road. Check their website for what can be registered online vs in-office.

Tumble Tots (Ages 4-6)

When: Tuesdays, August 25 — September 29 (Session 1), 6 weeks Time: 4:00 — 4:30 PM Where: Everett Recreation Center Cost: $78 for 6 weeks ($39 for 3 weeks)

If your kids still have that summer zoom after not being in a structured class all season, this is a gentle place to channel it. Beginner gymnastics skills on preschool-sized equipment with proper progressions — bars, beams, trampolines. There is a second session starting October 20 if you want to wait.

Advanced Tumbling (Ages 6-12)

When: Tuesdays, August 25 — September 29 Time: 7:00 — 7:45 PM Where: Everett Recreation Center Cost: $88 for 6 weeks

This one is for kids who already have a solid foundation — round-offs, back walk-overs, and they should be ready to learn back handsprings and standing back tucks. Not a beginner class.

Preschool Gymnastics (K readiness)

When: Tuesdays, August 25 — September 29 Time: 4:00 — 4:30 PM Where: Everett Recreation Center Cost: $78 for 6 weeks

Big overlap with Tumble Tots, but focused on gross motor skills for Kindergarten readiness. If you have a kindergartener who hasn't started fall activities yet, this is worth considering.

Stretch-n-Grow Dance — Fall Sessions

When: Wednesdays, September 2 — October 14 (Session 1), 6 weeks Time: 5:00 — 5:30 PM Where: Everett Recreation Center Cost: $99 for 6 weeks

Dance Stars by Stretch-n-Grow — ballet, jazz, and hip-hop fundamentals. They drop kids off and you can sit in the gym, walk the trail on-site, or grab coffee nearby. There is also a recital track available (13 weeks through December with a Knoxville recital for $198 plus a $90 recital fee for costume/venue).

Dancing Tots (Toddlers)

When: Tuesdays, September 1 — October 13 (Session 1), Theme: Frozen Edition Time: 4:00 — 4:30 PM Where: Springbrook Recreation Center Cost: $99 for 6 weeks

This is the Toddler/Preschool intro to dance. Parents stay in class unless the child needs a restroom break. If you have a 3 or 4-year-old who wants to start something, this is the softest entry point.

Maryville Isshin-Ryu Karate (Ages 7+)

When: Ages 7-12: Wednesdays, 6:00 — 7:30 PM (ongoing, new students anytime) Ages 12+: Mondays & Thursdays, 7:00 — 8:30 PM Where: Springbrook Recreation Center (Parks & Rec partnership) Cost: $60 per quarter for ages 7-12, $120 for 12+

Maryville Isshin-Ryu Karate School has been around since 1967 — oldest martial arts school in Blount County. No contracts, no hidden fees. Self-defense, kata, discipline. New students can walk in anytime.

Guitar Lessons

When: Thursdays, September 10 — October 22 Time: 4:30 — 5:30 PM Where: Everett Recreation Center Cost: $110 for 6 weeks

For kids who got a guitar and actually want to learn it. Instructor Chris Solomon.

Drama & Acting

When: Thursdays, September 10 — October 22 Time: 4:30 — 5:30 PM (Drama Kids), 5:40 — 6:40 PM (Acting for Older Kids), 6:45 — 7:45 PM (Musical Comedy) Where: Everett Recreation Center Cost: $110 per session

Ron Solomon runs these. Drama Kids works with fairy tale scenes — Pooh, Cinderella, Pirate. The older kids group does scenes from The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe and Anne of Green Gables — some memorization involved. Musical comedy combines singing, acting, and movement. Each session ends with a performance for families.

Pottery (Ages ~10+)

When: Mondays, September 14 — October 12 (4-week session) Time: 5:15 — 6:15 PM Where: Studio 212, 934 East Broadway Avenue, Maryville, TN 37804 Cost: $85 per session (clay, glaze, and firing all included)

Small class, hands-on — coiling, pinching, slab work. Projects go through two kiln firings so they end up food-safe. Studio 212 is on East Broadway. Instructor Leanne Moe McQueen.

Blount County Public Library — Ongoing Fall Programs

The library's teen and kids programs are year-round and free. Locations vary by program.

Chess Club (All Ages)

When: Saturdays 12:00 — 2:00 PM (drop-in) and Wednesdays 5:30 — 7:30 PM (tournaments) Where: Reference Area Cost: Free

All skill levels welcome. If your kid is just learning, go on Saturday. If they want to play rated tournaments, Wednesday is the slot.

Dungeons & Dragons (Ages 13+)

When: Tuesdays 5:30 — 8:00 PM Where: Kelly Teen Room Cost: Free

Parties run full, so fill out their Google Form to get on the waiting list. Link on the library website under Kids Programs.

Afterschool Program for Teens & Tweens

When: Teens (13-17): Wednesdays 3:30 — 6:30 PM & Thursdays 3:30 — 7:00 PM | Tweens (9-12): Fridays 3:00 — 5:00 PM Where: Kelly Teen Room Cost: Free

Free time to make art, play video games (they have a Switch and PS5), or just hang out. No registration needed for most programs.

Fall Break Camp — Pumpkin Power

When: October 7-9, 2026 (Wed-Fri) Time: 9:00 AM — 12:00 PM (3-hour) or 9:00 AM — 2:00 PM (5-hour) Where: Springbrook Recreation Center Cost: $110 for 3 days (3-hour), $165 for 3 days (5-hour)

Ages 3-8. Obstacle courses, gymnastics challenges, ninja-style adventures. Drop-off camp, all campers must be fully potty-trained. If your kid's school has fall break this week, this is an affordable option that actually sounds fun.

What to Do Next

The Parks & Rec programs are the ones with deadlines since you often need to register in-person at 316 S. Everett High Road. Call (865) 983-9244 or show up. The library programs are mostly drop-in.

I will be adding more resources as I find them — after-school programs through the school system, fall events, and holiday activities. Check back.
