Easter Sunday in Maryville 2026: Church Services & Family Activities
Easter Sunday 2026 falls on April 5th, and if you're looking for family-friendly ways to celebrate in Maryville, you are in luck. The community has so many options for worship, brunch, and even egg hunts.
Sunrise Services for Early Birds
If your family is up before dawn (or if you know you have one of those kids who wakes up at the crack of dawn), here are some sunrise service options:
Maryville College Easter Sunrise Service - 7:00 a.m. at Lloyd Beach, across from Lloyd Hall. This is a beautiful community service that draws families from all over Blount County. Pack a thermos of hot chocolate and layer up the kids.
1st United Methodist Church - 7:00 a.m. sunrise service at Montgomery Ridge Intermediate School. Traditional worship at 8:15 and 10:30 a.m., with a contemporary option at 10:30 a.m.
RIO Revolution Church - 6:45 a.m. sunrise service. They also have multiple worship times throughout the day at their 411 campus.
Fairview Church - 6:30 a.m. sunrise worship in the church parking lot, followed by celebration services at 8:30 and 11:00 a.m.
Foothills Church - 7:30 a.m. sunrise service with multiple worship times following at 9:00, 10:45, and 12:30 p.m.
Broadway Baptist Church - Sunrise service runs from 7:00-7:45 a.m., then worship at 8:30, 9:45 a.m. Sunday school, and 10:45 a.m.
Dancing Bear Lodge (Townsend) - 7:30 a.m. prelude and 7:45 a.m. sunrise service if you want to make a day trip.
Rio Townsend - 7:00 a.m. sunrise service at 10:30 a.m. worship.
Family Worship Services
Most churches have multiple service times throughout the day. Here are some highlights:
New Providence Presbyterian Church - 9:00 a.m. Circle worship, 10:15 a.m. traditional service, and notably 10:00 a.m. fellowship hour followed by an Easter egg hunt! This is one of the few places I found with an actual egg hunt listed.
Wildwood Baptist Church - 9:00 a.m. "Son Has Risen" service with breakfast to follow, then 10:30 a.m. worship service.
Dotson Memorial Baptist Church - Saturday, April 4th at 5:00 p.m. and Sunday at 10:45 a.m. They have a special "Behold the Lamb" music and drama presentation of Isaiah's prophecy on both nights.
Mount Lebanon Baptist Church - 10:15 a.m. Easter service.
Monte Vista Baptist Church - 9:30 a.m. Bible study and 10:45 a.m. Easter celebration.
Faith Promise Church - 8:00 a.m., 9:30 a.m., and 11:00 a.m. services throughout the day.
Pleasant Grove Baptist Church - 8:00 a.m. Resurrection service.
RIO Revolution Church - 10:00 a.m. broadcast and online service, plus 10:00 a.m. at their 411 campus, and 5:30 p.m. Spanish service.
What I'd Recommend
If you're new to Maryville or looking for a fresh church home this Easter, I say take advantage of the season. Many families attend different churches on Easter, and that's okay. It's a day when the community comes together, and you can worship in a variety of settings.
For families with young children, I'd recommend checking ahead about parking, stroller access, and whether they have nursery or children's programs. Some churches are better set up for little ones than others.
New Providence Presbyterian stands out if you want an egg hunt, and Dancing Bear Lodge is worth the drive to Townsend if you want that mountain sunrise experience.
Tips for Easter Sunday with Kids
- Arrive early - Some services fill up quickly, especially popular ones.
- Pack layers - Sunrise services are outdoors and can be chilly in April.
- Check if there's a kids' program - Not all churches advertise them, but many have them.
- Plan for brunch - Many restaurants are packed on Easter. Consider a home brunch or eating early.
Resources
I found this helpful guide at smokymountains.org with a full directory of Blount County churches. Many of the services listed there include livestreaming options if you need them.
This is one of those days when the whole town seems to wake up on Easter morning, and that's a pretty wonderful thing. Whether you attend a traditional service, a contemporary one, or something in between, I hope you find a place that feels right for your family this year.
